Welcome to The Dartmouth Independent Film Festival: here we build on a century of cinematic tradition, and here youth may savor the promise of the future. It is my esteemed privilege to kick off this inaugural celebration of creativity, collaboration, and cinema. This festival was founded on the belief that there should be some forum for creative exchange among filmmakers from schools around the country, and that every student here and abroad should have the opportunity to see the works of their peers. All too often, the divisions among schools prevent communication among artists and patrons. We believe that this online venue will tear down those barriers and foster the development of a national collegiate artistic community.
