Waiver Wire
One Clap

Bostonherald.com / Randy talking to the media
Randy Moss is probably the second best wide receiver of all time, and without a doubt the best deep ball threat to ever grace the gridiron. He is also one of the biggest locker room cancers off all time, aside from his 3 ¼ seasons in New England where he was a model citizen right up until the end. But all that aside, Moss is one of the most badass men to ever play in the NFL, a man who when once asked how he planned to pay a $10,000 fine gave us this beautiful exchange:
Reporter: You write the check yet?
Moss: When you rich, you don’t write checks.
Reporter: Then how do you plan to pay?
Moss: Straight cash homey.
Moss was recently fined $25,000 by the NFL for not making himself available to the media. In his press conference after the game this past Sunday, Moss said that he would no longer answer any more questions for the rest of the year, but instead would conduct his own interviews, asking and answering his own questions (and likely drawing more $25,000 fines, but hey, he’s Randy Moss, he doesn’t care, straight cash homey).
Moss’s badass-ery aside, lets take a look at Bill Belichick, the only coach ever able to deal with and contain Randy Moss’ deranged mind. Brad Childress’s recent horrendous dealing with Moss only further cements the hooded one’s legacy. Granted, I think Brad Childress is a joke of a head coach who lets his lil’ gunslinger run his team, but still, you have to hand it to Belichick. And if Randy Moss can somehow clear waivers in the next 24 hours and resign with the Pats—as he would clearly like to do after praising the entire Patriots team in a press conference and calling Belichick “the best coach in football history”—Belichick would have pulled off one of the greatest highway robberies of all time. In essence, it would amount to Randy Moss being traded to the Vikings for a 3rd round draft pick and Randy Moss. On top of that, the Vikings would be on the hook for the last $4.8 million of Moss’ $6.4 million salary, while the Pats would be able to resign him for the veteran minimum of about $450,000. With the genius that is Bill Belichick, you have to wonder if that wasn’t his plan all along.
The likelihood of Moss clearing the waiver wire and ending up with the Pats is slim to none, especially given that the Patriots are last in waiver priority due to their league leading 6-1 record. But if only Moss could somehow clear waivers…
Here’s hoping…one clap!
Sports are there for us when talking about the weather just won't cut it. Whenever we need to kickstart a conversation or end an awkward silence, "HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS?!" always trumps "Nice day out there, huh?" Sports aren’t a perfect reflecting pool for life, and life isn’t all about sports. But, at the margins, they help sustain each other.
Whether it’s Monday Night Football at the beginning of every week or daytime baseball at the end, we know that our sports keep on trucking. And somehow, despite it all, so do we.
For the love of the game.
